Charleys Dream Ready For St Arnaud Cup

Charleys Dream will need to fulfil the high expectations of his trainer Bill Walker in Friday night’s St Arnaud Sporting Club St Arnaud Cup held at Tabcorp Park, Melton.

The son of Dream Away ran an excellent second in the Maryborough Cup however Walker is convinced the horse has improved since then.

Although he is slower at standing starts, Charleys Dream is better at the distance races and has been a promising Country Cup horse since he was three years old.

Only reaching his full potential now, Charleys Dream has won 15 races and collected over $100,000 in prize money.

With a good recent history that includes running second to Veranjee at Tabcorp Park which followed a win at Moonee Valley and back-to-back wins over key rival Jaccka Clive at Cranbourne in June and July, Charleys Dream is a serious contender in the $12,000 race.

Friday night’s list of contenders will also include Jaccka Clive, John Justice’s That’s Mister Ali and Merv Williamson’s Wideford Hill.

The St Arnaud Cup is the seventh event in a nine race program which also includes the Weirs St Arnaud Super IGA Cup.
