Rider On The Storm Wins the Franklin Cup

The John Dunn-driven Rider On The Storm took out the $70 000 Group 2 Pak’N Save Franklin Trotting Cup (3200m) at Alexandra Park in Auckland on Friday night, securing Dunn’s second Group level victory at the track.

Rider On The Storm, trained by Dunn’s father Robert, defeated Power Of Tara (Tony Herlihy) by three-quarters-of-a-length with Changeover (David Butcher) the same distance back again in third.

The five-year-old gelding clocked a solid time of 4:02.2 over the 3200m, the victory bringing Rider On The Storm’s career record to 12 wins from 37 starts for over $177 000 in prizemoney earned.

The trotter’s next big target will be the $45 000 Summer Cup on New Year’s Eve.
